In the past, TVB’s themesongs were all sung by professional singers such as Roman Tam, Joyce Lee, Danny Chan, Anita Mui, Wong Kit, Lui Fong, Jacky Cheung, Faye Wong, Eason Chan, Hacken Lee, Kelly Chen, and so on. This allowed the past TVB themesongs to be powerful, very memorable, and signature [of the series] and the audience would want to hear the themesong play at the start of every episode.
There were some series that had its star(s) singing the themesong. Examples include A Recipe for the Heart and The Legendary Four Aces which had its ensemble cast singing the themesong. However, this was rare in the past.
Sometimes, when a singer/actor was a part of the cast, he or she would sing the themesong. Examples include Julian Cheung, Adam Cheng, Liza Wang, Steven Ma, Gallen Lo, Ronald Cheng, and Nancy Sit singing the themesongs for series such as Point of No Return, Blade Heart, Yesterday’s Glitter, Where the Legend Begins, Golden Faith, Colourful Life, and Virtues of Harmony.
